Centerra is one of the largest providers of security services to the United States Federal Government and commercial customers. We safeguard sites of great significance to the United States’ national security, including facilities that house Category I Special Nuclear Material (SNM) as well as sites of cultural and historical significance, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
We protect life and property; deter and stop illegal entry; manage and operate 911 dispatch centers; protect against sabotage, espionage, destruction, and robbery; provide canine services, and protect classified and sensitive unclassified material. Our armed and unarmed, officers provide physical security, fixed and roving patrols, access control, vehicle inspection, x-ray machines and magnetometer screening; Close Circuit TV (CCTV) monitoring; dispatch; canine support; visitor processing; VIP protection; and administrative services.
Centerra offers compliant, responsive, customer-focused services in a fiscally responsible manner. Our officers receive first-class professional training, conducted by some of the most experienced instructors in the industry. Prior to duty assignments, all officers must successfully complete local, state, Federal, Centerra-specific, and site-specific training. Hundreds of our officers are United States Marshals, are Security Officer Management Branch (SOMB) certified, and/or hold Federal Arrest Authority. The majority of Centerra’s security contracts require services 24/7/365 and many demand extensive background checks for our officers.
As a major federal security contractor, Centerra routinely provides Temporary Additional Services (TAS) and Emergency Security Services (ESS), including large-scale disasters and national disasters. We staff special events, after-hours events, and augment existing staff during heightened security periods. Centerra has provided armed guard services at more than 100 Disaster Relief sites, primarily for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross, across a large geographically dispersed area in the United States.
Centerra’s special security services training capabilities and resources are unmatched. We manage and operate five (5) security-training centers for federal and commercial contracts and employ more than 300 professional security instructors. Centerra provides Federal Arrest Authority (FAA) training for all NASA security personnel at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We have developed some of the Country’s most stringent security training courses, which have been adopted by multiple federal Government organizations, including the following: Active Shooter, FAA, Counter Terrorism, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) response.
