Centerra’s Nuclear Security Protection Program is responsible for safeguarding the United Stated Federal Government’s most critical assets and facilities, including the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, National Aeronautical and Space Administration, and other National strategic assets and resources.
Sensitive sites and nuclear facilities we protect include the following: the United States’ nuclear weapons program and infrastructure; emergency fuel storage; uranium enrichment facility; material storage for plutonium, uranium and tritium; as well as leading-edge scientific research and classified information. Centerra’s number one priority is to ensure operations at these locations are not disrupted by criminal or terrorist acts.
Centerra’s dedicated, vigilant and well-trained paramilitary security professionals who safeguard these critical missions are experienced military and/or police professionals. Many of these men and woman have recent combat experience in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Our Protective Forces are armed with military-grade weaponry and equipment and organized into small units for tactical deployment. They are also fully trained to detect; deter and/or defeat a determined, well-equipped adversary force with intent to compromise our National security.
Centerra provides hundreds of paramilitary Security Police Officers (SPOs) at DOE/NNSA/NASA facilities, including Special Response Team/Special Weapons and Tactics (SRT/SWAT) at these sites. Protective Force personnel re-qualify with assigned weapons at least semi-annually. They attend frequently scheduled refresher training on all facets of their duties to ensure they maintain the training, battle focus and readiness needed to provide the dedication and professionalism demanded by the very nature of the sensitive facilities and material we protect.
Centerra personnel who protect Special Nuclear Material (SNM) and classified information meet the requirements of our clients’ enhanced Human Reliability Programs (HRP), which require annual and random drug and alcohol testing, psychological testing, and, in some cases, polygraph testing.
